Published Article-Tila Tequila

This Tila Tequila article is a recent published article. You can find it on page 12 of the http://unlockmag.com and I have included the text version of this article below, it is also the unedited version of the article.
Tila Tequila. -Christina Rivas Trendy? Trashy? Twisted?
Do you love her or hate her? Either way you are thinking of her. Tila Tequila! Unique, vivacious, bisexual, jill-of-all-trades. What is it she does anyways? This sexy vixen seems to have her hand and foot in a piece of everything. She has been seen modeling, acting, tv reality, music, even clothing. Remember "MTV:A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila"? We all knew that it was coming. Season 2 will have Miss Tila Tequila again.
Has this boost in fame spoiled Tila? Many people would say so. She went from being a Myspace Queen to an MTV Reality star. It's quite a jump. It seems to have affected her ego as well. How does she go from being a super sweet, confused bisexual girl looking for love to a self absorbed, snotty girl filming season two? On her official myspace page she says "I love it how some people that don't know me personally have all these different views and opinions on me." I hate to break it to Tila Tequila but, the more famous you become, the more people will judge you. When a fan on the www.youarenotthefather.com website catches you being rude to a couple of little girls who just want your autograph while you tell her that you're too busy for a picture as you sit on a smoke break, people will tend to judge you from what they see.
Thien Thanh Thi Nguyen was born October 24, 1981 choose her stage name of "Tila Tequila" because of an incident of trying tequila in junior high school. This girl has truly lived a life most people do not. Joining random gangs, trying drugs at a young age, stealing her sisters ID to get into clubs. She makes so many claims of being self destructive. A blog posted on her myspace in 2003 she asks the question "Who here is not afraid of death but see it as setting yourself free? ME!.....I don't wanna sleep today. Self destruction would be great right now....but I can't think of anything creative without leaving the house." At the same time I want to question if her voice of "self-destruction" is just a way of getting attention or is it truly sincere?
She has such a habit of contradicting herself, including her own sexuality. December 2003 she writes "Hey I'd talk about chicks but girls are crazy man! I dated a girl long, long, long, long ago and I am never going back to that....they are emotionally insane and unstable creatures" Another quote from her blog that I find completely endearing and yet so sad "It's like a war inside." Probably one of the few things I believe is a truth from her. I suppose to be fair people change over time. But does this girl change or is she simply seeking more fame by appearing complicated?
This Singapore born girl and her family left Vietnam after the Vietnam war when Tila was just a year old. They moved into a suburb of Houston named Alief. They were shortly admitted into a gated community run by a very strict Buddhist Temple. She was 8 years old when the Nguyen's moved out of the community. No one can really say what happened between the age of 8 and her getting to Junior high school. It does raises some curiosities in me. Why doesn't anyone know what happened in those three or four years?
Ah yes! The junior high school years. That's when her "bad attitude" seemed to surface. Junior high is when she began getting into fights, trying drugs, and drinking. She has said she tried Ecstasy at the YOUNG age of 11 years old. I wonder, where does an 11 year old get Ecstasy? Her attitude and behavior got her sent to a boarding school for six months. When she finally reached high school, she had lived a life of a young adult already.
So what is the next logical step for a girl who's done "everything?" Join a gang or two! Her own words say that she "was really confused then." Later she met some friends who helped her leave that lifestyle. However, as we all know, your past catches up with you. So, when she turned 16 she decided the best thing to do was to run away to New York City (or was it Queens?)with $300. Of course when that ran out she ran back home. Where, according to MTV, when she returned home, she got a fake ID and began working as a waitress in a strip club.
Appearances in Stuff, Maxim, and Penthouse are some of her modeling credits. She was 18 years old is when her modeling career began, when a Playboy scout discovered her in Sharpstown Mall. She was later featured as "Playboy's Cyber Girl of the week" on April 22, 2002 and soon became the first Asian Cyber Girl of the Month. She's appeared on game shows, cameos, and even a movie.
She used her modeling as a stepping stone for many of her other ventures. She assembled a band called "Beyond Betty Jean" where she was the singer/songwriter. After the break up of the band she worked in recording studios to work on her vocal skills and write music. She also later joined a band called "Jealousy." Myspace Records' and Interscope released an album that had a track by Jealousy on it.
She has her own fashion line. She's had cameos, hosted TV shows, had a tiny role in a major movie, was a contestant in Surviving Nugent, and she keeps moving forward with her random ventures. Nothing seems to stop this self described work-a-holic. Everything that she did as a result of her modeling and myspace was nothing compared to the debut of her very own reality tv show "A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila." I can honestly say that I had no idea who this "bisexual" vixen was before the show.
This show went through the roof. I questioned her sincerity as did many people. I also sympathized with her struggle of sexuality. But, let's explore how "realistic" her reality show was, shall we? Bobby Banhardt seeming less than thrilled when he wins. Then there's the every popular debate about who dumped who and why. Bobbys official myspace blog says that she basically told him she was too busy for a boyfriend. Yet she ventures forward with Season Two, of A Shot At Love with Tila Tequila. Now, maybe they decided to go with her again at the last second, but, how realistic is that?
Did she really just let the world think that Bobby dumped her so she could hold onto that reality tv star title for another season? She has been spotted as late as January with an unconfirmed boyfriend, talking about the reality show. She was also caught (by the same fan previously mentioned) in photos filming the final episodes of A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila Season 2 in the last week of February in Cancun Mexico! Word is, she has two women and a man as the final three. Will the twist be a woman just for shock value? Or will she actually hold onto someone who she "falls in love" with?
She works hard to "make it." I know she does everything she can, literally everything. Will she find love? Is she really looking for love? She says she doesn't want to go to the bars to find love, but, is showmance really the way to go? Does that really work? Tila must get lonely always wondering if she's really ever going to be loved. We all want it. Love. True undeniable love. Even Tila Tequila. Struggling with her sexuality seems to be something she really has a sincere struggle with. Sex with beautiful women. Sex with gorgeous men. This girl seems to have it made! Scandalous? Greedy? Lucky? Open-minded? Or just plain lost? Why does she go on these silly rampages of wanting either a man or a woman?
Young and filled with lust Tila wants one or the other. Maybe she wants them at the same time? Who am I to question her sexuality? She says everyone is bisexual. I truly believe that she believes that. Maybe I really do believe it. I just want to hug this girl who is mid 20s and still lost as ever. She still says she's self destructive. Why does she showcase such a strong confident woman yet seem so insecure? I think she is really just a girl trying to find her way in the world.
Now as I stated Ms. Tequila contradicts herself so often, in comments, in her blog, and even in her life. Now, I believe I'm in the same boat with Tila Tequila. I have contradicted myself. I love her. I hate her. I can't seem to choose which it is! And as all of her fans and haters out there do, I just can't seem to get enough of this multi-threat almost celebrity!
